Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went from being a nobody to successfully primarying a 10-term incumbent to being the 2nd most recognizable member of the US Congress in under a year.

If you don't understand why Republicans AND Democrats are afraid of her...
Anyone who's been very smart and competent and had teachers, colleagues, and/or bosses who are threatened by you go out of their way to sabotage and undermine you, because they certainly can't win by outperforming you, gets this dynamic instantly.
AOC looked at a long-time sitting Democrat, lasered in on every last one of his weaknesses, surgically attacked them, and took him down. A lot of folks want to play it off as an accident or part of some "desire for change" trend, but the truth is, she nailed his ass to the wall.
If Congressional Democrats were as interested in growing the party as they were in protecting their seats, they would be calling AOC--and other women of color who have managed big political upsets--asking her advice and furiously taking notes.
Instead the DCCC changed the rules to blacklist vendors who help primary challengers and have done their best to blame this year's failings on AOC and the largely successful progressive wing, while defending their moderate candidates who by and large lost.
Meanwhile, Democratic leadership has not only agreed with the Republican narrative on why Democrats under-performed in this election, but allowed Republicans like Kasich inside the party to attack AOC and the progressive wing FROM WITHIN.
Republicans love this, because they know exactly what Democrats have in AOC and the Justice Democrats and how fundamentally dangerous the progressive movement is to their party.

It's a fucking travesty Democratic leadership largely agrees with them.
AOC is a shrewd, skilled politician whose political positions are more widely known and clearly articulated than virtually any other member of the House.

Not every Dem candidate necessarily has to echo her politics and policies, but they should be looking at her strategy.
