2. Two passages particularly stood out to me. One challenges the myth that central government is unknown to Afghanistan.
3. The other reminds us that the Taliban's opposition to the current Afghan constitution is not purely ideological but also circumstantial.
4. Acceptance of this reality will be crucial to finding a solution: "The Islamic Republic and its international backers have learned that the Taliban are a part of the society that will not disappear." But I too often hear folks still in denial.
