Unrelated to anything, Amy & I picked up a couple of baking trays from the Hostess factory in Schiller Park, Illinois after it closed. At the time we were still trying to decide what type of bakery we would open, and the limited opportunity to buy these seemed like a good idea...
One is for 36 Hostess Cupcakes, and the other is for 36 Hostess Twinkies. At one point (we still didn't have a location or concept) I thought we could bake "authentic fake" twinkies...
but then when I started oven shopping, I realized we didn't need an oven big enough for the pans (they're under 11" wide, but over 40" long) for anything else that we planned to make. It was overkill that we couldn't really afford...
And then we thought we could use them for decor, but through the process of hiring a great designer we realized that they wouldn't really fit the decor (and neither did the great vintage baker's table I found at an auction)...
So, these two very heavy pans have sat in the corner of our dining room/craft room/home office for 4 years...
Once I think of the right collab, we may have those "authentic fake" twinkies in Edmonton somewhere.
I'll keep you posted.
Hey Google, send email to all the restaurant owners in contacts asking if their oven is big enough for an 11" by 40-1/2" pan.
