Obviously in graph form, it looks like a parody one of us would draw in mspaint to make fun of scientists. But this is really the theory of recent political history that I was taught in college, and the model that all Very Serious People subscribe to for explaining recent events.
This was the narrative in all my assigned textbooks after 2016: "We live in an age of polarization. From what our best scientists can tell, Democrats have remained exactly the same while the mystical forces of hatred and fear have caused Republicans to backslide into barbarism."
libs really sit on a moving train and get mad at the world for moving backwards around them. They will even derive extremely convoluted theories to explain how they are actually sitting still and the peasants are running away from them backwards
