So I had a discussion with a Major about career progression, grad school, and functional areas. During the discussion I brought up how I’m under qualified for what I’m interested in. This woman stopped me right in my tracks đŸ€­.
She told me that women and not just women in the Army think they need to be over qualified for positions so won’t even apply for certain jobs.
Males however are encouraged to go after things even if they’re grossly under qualified and guess what!! They get the jobs/opportunities anyway.
So although the possibility of rejection is a tough pill to swallow we’re often far more qualified than we think we are.
This is why women need to have at least one other woman in their mentorship circle.
