This photo symbolises the injustice that ordinary Iranians are afflicted with. Islamic Republic’s notorious hanging Judge vacations in Germany whilst millions of Iranians suffer at his hand.
-His name is Judge Tardost. He bragged about having signed the execution orders of more than 800 Iranians. His children live in Germany. While ordinary Iranians can hardly obtain a visa for Germany, regime officials like him seem to have no problem. This is not the first time
-Earlier today, I’ve spoken to Shohleh Pakravan, whose daughter, Reyhaaneh Jabbari, was executed by the orders of this judge. Reyhaaneh has a very painful story. As a young girl at the pinnacle of her career, she was on the verge of being raped by a regime official.
-In order not to be raped, she killed her rapist. Yet, there started the injustice for Reyhaaneh. The Judge Tandrost, who signed Reyhaaneh’s execution order told Reyhaaneh’s mother: “Your daughter should have faced rape instead of killing the guy. Why didn’t she trust justice”?
-Reyhaaneh was mercilessly executed, while also becoming one of the first instances of Iran’s #MeToo movement several years ago. Reyhaaneh’s mother, Shohleh, later had to seek asylum in Germany.

-It is mind-boggling that in what’s supposed to be a safe country like Germany, Shohleh has to witness the executioner of her daughter move around freely. Why do German officials give visas to these people in the first place?
-Strangely, while judges of the Islamic Republic of Iran have sentenced scores of women to long years of prison for saying no to forced hijab, Judge Tardost’s female family members live in Germany without wearing hijab.
-One would naturally ask whether one can blame someone for his/her relationship to a criminal/tyrant. This is a valid question. But many of the children of these officials, including this judge, promote their parents’ regime abroad while not bearing the brunt of its repression
-CORRECTION: The name of this judge who issued the death sentence of Rehyaaneh Jabbari is "Tardast".
