All of the false hope in 1519 gives me so much REAL hope for a true happy ending for Dean/Cas and Sam/Eileen. Follow my clown car for a sec. #Supernatural #itaintoveryet
False hope #1: Dean and Sam offer themselves to Chuck to bring the everyone back (INCLUDING CAS), this giving him the end he wanted but giving them hope that their sacrifice will save the world. Chuck refuses.
False hope #2: The phone call. Dean is miserable. He gets that call from Cas and answers, hoping it’s really him. When he hears his voice asking for help, he sprints to the door, hopeful that Cas is back. It’s not Cas.
False hope #3: The dog. Dean names him Miracle. He’s hopeful that if this dog survived, maybe there are other signs of life somewhere. Chuck snaps it away.
False hope #4: Chuck being able to have his tragic ending. He hopes—smugly believes, actually—that he’ll have it. He doesn’t. Jack and the Winchesters take that away from him, leaving him human and vulnerable. He hopes they won’t leave him behind. They do.
False hope #5: That freedom will make them happy. The brothers are free, but it’s not enough. What good is freedom if you can’t have what you really want? For them, I think that means a life they choose... and people they choose. Sam can have that. Dean can’t. Not yet.
Real hope: The real hope is what we’ll see in the final episode—Dean and Sam choosing what—and who—they want in their lives, and how. They haven’t fought this long and hard for their own ending without Cas and Eileen being there with them. ❤️
(And the final false hope—that SPN will end with a brosonly ending. Not gonna happen.)
