Actually, fuck it, I'll just say this straight out

Torturing and abusing someone until they renounce, or develop new trauma around, their sexual interests is a form of sexual abuse. When it's done to kids, it's child sexual abuse.

That's true no matter whether it's done in the name of God or fandom or "just making your life easier" or child safety itself and no matter whether the abuse is physical, psychological or spiritual.

I'm really angry about this today.

I spend so much time trying to protect people from this and help them heal from it. I feel helpless sometimes because of the sheer number of people I care about who have been directly harmed by cults that propagate This Abuse In Particular.

I wish I could do more to stop it.
