:Voice Acting Rant:
I find it sad that voice actors are the reason a lot of other voice actors quit.
C'mon guys, we need to be unified. This job is ruthless as is without the infighting, is it really okay to keep gatekeeping and bullying smaller actors?

As professionals, it's our job to try and show the way it's done, but most of the time it's all vague posting and not telling "amateurs" how to improve.
All they get is
"Go to Classes"
"Don't ask these questions/ say these thing"
"Talent is key"
"How dare you ask me X?"

As an actor who came from a financially poor upstart, and suffers from conversational anxiety. Here's a few rebuttals.
I find the classes advice tone deaf when you realize a lot of people can't keep forking out half a thousand dollars every few months. To learn to be "Pro".

As for saying the "right" things to people. It's impossible to say the correct thing when saying just "Hi" can be misinterpreted nowadays. Self doubt is at an all time high when cases of anxiety are nearly 20% of all American population. While being wrong is so easy in this job.
Talent is RNG, and it's really up to chance the majorities of the time. That's just acting. So telling people talent alone is suffice is reckless and ignorant.
Telling someone not to ask you X is a okay, but realize that to some, you hold more worth in your words than you know.

I love this art form, but I have had multiple friends quit just because the "Pro"s can't differentiate opinion from the facts. Frankly I'm quite tired of seeing so many potentially talented people leave because they were given the impression that they're not good enough.
Note I'm not saying all Pros are gatekeeping, but acting as if it isn't happening is rather disgusting. We see the same pool of people constantly, when thousands attempt this job. While they're also kicking out the small guys before they start.
Small actors are too afraid to speak out about this because it could destroy their career to be disliked by a singular person. So I'm willing to speak out about this, because it needs to stop. Professionals need to act more professional. They need to lead by example.
They need to try by others who wish to walk the same path they have before. Not get annoyed because a kid asked "How'd you get an agent" Not get mad because someone said "How do I do it too?"
You figured it out, so maybe throw a bone instead of a backhanded disgusted remark.
