When life feels gloomy, learning keeps me sane.
Whether it be a line in a book, a conversation with a friend, or a note to myself.
Learning keeps me grounded and reminds me why I love this life I live.
I believe humans are meant to learn forever.

1/ When I got laid off at the end of April, I felt lost.
I wrapped most of my identity and the majority of my time in that job.
Needless to say, I was depressed. Connecting with others and hearing what inspired them pulled me out of the whirling pit of despair.

2/ Before that job, I decided to turn down my only corporate job prospect at a bank after college in 2018.
My gut told me it wasn't the right fit. I didn't look up to the leaders there or aspire to be more like them.
I chose to say no without a fallback plan. I felt reckless.

3/ I started to escape reality often. My vice? Alcohol. Lots of it.
At the start of 2019, I decided to go cold turkey. I chose to do a dry Jan at a cottage all by myself in the woods.
I started to realize I didn't need a crutch. I loved my curiosity and pursuing rabbit holes.

4/ I began investing in the fundamental skills to believe in my learning potential.
As a dyslexic, I have thought I'd love reading. After having had a reading tutor, I wanted to see what else I could learn about reading.
I binged @ShaneAParrish's Art of Reading online course.

5/ I started reading books that slowly reshaped my world view.
I had many limiting beliefs about myself that I needed to unlearn.
The two most impacting books were
1. Mindset by Carol Dweck
2. Defining Decade by @drmegjay

6/ I started reaching strangers that were on career paths that intrigued me.
I would ask to informationally interview them.
I wanted to understand the rationale behind the path in their nonlinear career paths.
Doing so popped the bubble of the ideal career in my head.

7/ The faith I have in our ability as humans to learn has helped me pull myself out of negative spirals of self-doubt and vices.
I believe this can be a cure for many if they look at the potential of what they have yet to learn.
Never stop learning
