first of all:
- most of the info is gonna be written, if i take some from internet, i’ll put the source

let’s start with the basics if you don’t have any idea of even what peru is. peru is a county located in latinamerica, that has suffer political and economical issues since a long time ago

Martín Vizcarra(1st pic) used to be the president of the republic, but in the evening of last monday (nov 9th), he was ousted by the congress, which is full of very corrupt people, making Manuel Merino (2nd pic), our new president

this happened just 5 months before the elections, and it’s not the first time they’ve tried to take Vizcarra out of his presidential charge. he was suspicious of being corrupt as well, but he never interfered into the investigations the government made him.

getting into the congress itself, 68 of 130 lawmakers are being investigated for crimes like money laundering or even murder

the actual president, Merino, doesn’t have any kind of studies on how to be the president, as he didn’t even finished university (with a career that has nothing to do with politics: agriculture)

in this four days, Merino has already made a bunch of terrible decisions, beginning with the fact that he put Antero Flores Aráoz as our new first minister

this man is a conservative misogynistic, racist, prolife, etc. he had said things like “for a women to enter the congress she at least must be good looking” or called people from the mountain range “vicuñas y llamas” (typical animals from there)

obviously, the population is mad and from the first day, pacific protests started

protesting is A RIGHT, but it’s seems as the army and the police do not care, cause they are the first ones to go into violence by physically attacking citizens with no reason and shooting tear gas bombs and small bullets

meanwhile, the president says that there is no issue to be protesting for, and that in a little time this will pass (it won’t)

in the other hand, most of the news are trying to blame violence in the people that protest, saying they were violent since the first moment when that’s not what’s happening. the press even set fire to some wheels and then blame it on the people

the only program that i’ve seen that inform with the truth, and that say that citizens are in their right to protest, is “la banda del chino”, that begins at midnight, obviously, a program with less waiting than the other news programs

conclusion: DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE PRESS

peruvian people from all around the world are protesting as well

some peruvian celebrities went to the protests as well, but the people who have more followers on social media, also known as “influencers”, are not informing nothing at all just because “they don’t feel like”

tomorrow (nov 13) we are playing a soccer match against our classic rival, and the lawmakers will use that ocasión as a smokescreen to basically still corrupting and robbing

what can you do to help? if you’re from peru, you can go to the protests that are organised everyday (i’ll the leave schedules), but if you are from other country, the most important thing is to inform yourself and share that info with others.

i texted my cousin and she told me that her stepbrother operated 2 men that were shoot by police. both are alive, but it looks like one of them won’t survive

this just happened like 5 minutes ago: the thing that i mentioned before about the university law was just accepted. with 10 votes in favour and 1 against (the only women i think), lawmakers made the decision that from now on, the Sunedu cannot, accept, deny, cancel or suspend+

licenses from peruvian universities. this means that education in the country will be much worse as there is nobody to approve or deny the teaching methods of each educative center. also, this gives lawmakers to continue building their “universidades bamba” (fake universities)
