Can we normalize women having children during residency? Making jokes about freezing eggs is frankly not funny. That’s an additional procedure with risks, time commitments, and costs that women are subjected to unlike our male counterparts who don’t have to worry as much (1/3)
about fertility. We already dedicate 8 or more years of our fertile years to furthering our education prior to residency. At some point, you have to start actually living your life. Instead of telling women to wait until they’re likely to need fertility treatments, how about(2/3)
we devise ways to support them without added pressure to their co-residents? Maybe advocating for having funds for additional APP support? Until more women have seats at the table in leadership positions, this will likely never be solved. Representation matters. (3/3)
