The bias video @KpopKonverters did inspired me. I don't know how to video edit, so I'm going to do a big ol' thread instead. Because why not, right? I will limit myself to no more than two per group. I'll start with my three ult groups and go from there. This will take a while.
First up, my ult bias from one of my three ult groups, the owner of the best voice in K-pop in my opinion, Onew (Lee Jinki) from SHINee. His performances of "Nessun Dorma" and "Rainy Blue" literally give me chills.
I have also recently accepted that I have a second ult bias, from another of my three ult groups - Yuto from Pentagon. Great rapper, funny guy and has the most infectious laugh. It's an instant cure for sadness for me. Also, he can rock a smoky eye like I never could.
For my third ult group, SF9 (who have been in my top groups the longest), I have two biases. I can't narrow it down to one. In the past I've said I had four, but these two keep coming out on top - Rowoon and Zuho.
Going to hit the rest of the groups randomly, starting with the ones for whom I have posters on my wall. For The Boyz, winners of Road to Kingdom and phenomenal performers, my eye was first caught by leader Sangyeon and I haven't waivered. Another one with a beautiful voice.
I should have said this at the beginning, but picking biases does not mean I don't like the other members of the groups. I love them all. The groups are awesome because of their total makeup and what each member brings to the mix.
For instance, I can't imagine Treasure with fewer than their full roster of 12 members. They're all so talented & just adorbs. I do have two biases though, both from the Japanese line - Asahi and Yoshi. Asahi's personality is oddly hilarious & I think Yoshi is so kind and sweet.
KNK not only has the best fandom name, Tinkerbell, but five really talented members. The group is every bit as talented as groups selling out huge stadiums. My faves are leader Jihun and awesome rapper Dongwon.
ONF is a group where it's been hard for me to pinpoint a bias. It's different at different times. Like Wyatt and E-Tion had me in stitches during RTK they were so funny. I think, however, my pick is J-US. He seems like such a sweetie, but can also pull off intense concepts.
Next up the first K-pop group I saw in concert, ATEEZ. I wasn't sure about a bias at the very beginning, but it quickly cemented as Yunho. Another sweetie and a dancing machine. The concert I went to was on his 20th birthday and we all sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
The last group I got to see live before the pandemic hit was A.C.E. So glad I went. They're phenomenal live. Another group where it's hard to choose a bias, but mine is Donghun. Any performances you've seen online do not do him justice. He is next level in person.
I was supposed to see NCT 127 for my 50th birthday this year. Alas, pandemic. This is another group where I had one bias for quite a while (Taeil) and eventually added a second (Doyoung). I really love fantastic vocalists, and SM Entertainment has them in spades.
Speaking of SM, the group that got me into K-pop was EXO. Talk about being filled with outstanding vocalists. One of them is the K-pop idol who led me to K-pop through his acting and is still my EXO and SuperM bias - Baekhyun.
Ghost9 is one of my newer additions. They had such an awesome debut recently. This is another group where they're all awesome, but Junhyung immediately drew my attention with his dancing and he's really funny. His nun outfit in their Halloween version of "Reborn" was a riot!
Great Guys is the last of the groups whose posters are gracing my walls (though far from the end of the groups I will include in this thread). They're yet another group where I started out with one bias (Dongin) and added a second (Uiyeon). Both powerful rappers.
When a friend suggested I listen to "Rose, Scent, Kiss" by Daehwi from AB6IX, I fell in love with that song. Hard. Daehwi is one of those idols who has such a distinctive and awesome voice, not to mention he's so smart and has a personality I like.
Picking more than one bias in smaller groups feels like I should just say screw it, I bias the whole group. CIX is like that. My first bias is Hyunsuk, but lately BX has been demanding co-bias status.
Let's do the rest of the Road to Kingdom groups now. For VERIVERY, it's another combination of vocals and sweet personality that led me to picking Yeonho.
For Golden Child, who I think are some of the best dancers with some of the best songs in the industry, I have two - hilarious rapper Jangjun and leader Daeyeol.
One of my favorite rookie groups of this year is TOO. They were barely debuted a month before they competed with their seniors on Road to Kingdom and did an awesome job. Their cover of TVXQ's "Rising Sun" is iconic, if you ask me. Love them all but the bias is Chan.
The last of the RTK groups was another I saw live last year. ONEUS also had one of the best songs of this year with "To Be or Not to Be." It should have won a boatload of awards is all I'm saying. Anyway, bias: Ravn, who is every bit as beautiful in person as you'd expect.
Winner is another small group (four members) where I literally bias half of them, Hoony and Yoon, who is on my top tier list of favorite vocalists.
WayV is a group where I've said from the beginning that I can't pick a bias, that I just love them all too much. I think that a bias has gradually picked me though, and again it was the heavenly vocals that got me. Thus, Xiaojun. Bonus appearance by Bella, WayV's cute pupper.
The last of the NCT units (Dream) is the one that I have followed the least but still enjoy their work. This bias is newer than my other NCT biases, but pretty sure it's Jaemin.
How about some JYP groups now? First up, GOT7. Again, love them all but it's all Jinyoung for me. Not only is he a wonderful singer, but also a good actor, handsome and he loves to read! A man who loves books = A++.
Let's go more old school with 2PM (cue "A.D.T.O.Y." playing in the background). My first bias is Jun. K (vocals!) but I'm adding Nichkhun. I've been watching him on Idol on the Quiz, and he's funny, smart and kind - a great combo.
A newer JYP group is Stray Kids and, funny story, my bias Felix brought me to them through a funny video of him being excited over snow falling at a rest stop in Korea. He's from Australia, so maybe it was a novelty but it was adorable. Seungmin has recently become bias #2.
Finally from JYP, the first K-band to make an appearance on this list, Day6, one of the groups I really wish I'd gotten the opportunity to see live last year. Anyway, bassist Young K is my bias with a side of bias-wrecking by drummer Dowoon.
