Fine I'll bite, what's a DeMar DeRozan?
I'll say this about DeMar, if you're gonna shoot a lot of midrange jumpers (that's okay! we see the value of it in the playoffs every year)just be efficient. Last year he posted a career best 47% conversion rate on 703(!) attempts. That was in the 90th percentile among forwards.
He also posted a career best conversion rate in shot efficiency at the rim, points per shot attempt, eFG% and assist to usage ratio.
I THINK, and this is just my take on it, Green+Kuz might be/was unable to net a guy like CP3, Dinwiddie, Dipo, etc, and the team scoured the market for an offensive release valve on the heels of a long playoffs/quick turnaround season.
That's where I again, theoretically, think the interest comes from for the Lakers specifically. Right or wrong.
