Last year, I put some thoughts down in a thread for job-seekers. Almost all of it still applies, but I would add one thing: ASK the person you want advice from if they would rather do a zoom or a call. Some people are just zoomed out, so don't assume. https://twitter.com/creynoldsnc/status/1085253993796898818
Also, here are my thoughts on resumes as someone who's both done and read a lot of them. Of course, worth remembering that every person has different opinions on resumes. Do what you think best tells your story succinctly! https://twitter.com/creynoldsnc/status/946470954456244225
Oh, and feel free to show this tweet to your parents/significant other if they are concerned: In MANY years of campaigns, the only time I got a job before the new year was working for the Obama inaugural. Every other time, it didn't happen in the first two months.
Sometimes I got unemployment while I looked, sometimes I tended bar (a job my dad often called my "marketable skill"). It's tough, particularly coming off a campaign job. But remember that that's not a reflection on you or the job you did. It's just a very hard time.
And one more piece of advice: if you talk to pretty much anyone whose career you admire, they will tell you that they didn't get at least one job they wanted, and that their career path didn't go exactly the way they figured. As you're looking, be open...
