As a physical preservation steward, I have always said/believed that my power comes from communication with and education of institutional colleagues. Preservation work is done by everyone and it is my job to advocate for it to be done and complain productively when it isn’t.
I have always found librarians and archivists open and willing to accept preservation guidance. But I wonder if that is in part because I meet them in their physical workspace and we make tangible changes to collections...
Whereas digipres happens in a virtual space that is othered and digipres practice is seen as something unattainable by “normal” library staff?
