Okay, because this came up and I feel people need something fresh, here we go. We’re gonna talk about 91 Days.

What is 91 Days? It was released in 2016 by studio Shuka and is available on Crunchyroll. Set in the Prohibition Era, this show is in my top five favorite anime’s of all time, and I have watched well over 100 titles. My family is not proud.

We follow Angelo, pictured left in the thread’s heading image, in his plot for revenge after disaster strikes hi family. This is a mafia story filled with infiltration, love, heartbreak, and in a way forgiveness.

This show is often in lists with Joker Game, Gangsta, and Gankutsuou. And rightly so! As beautiful as it is gritty, this story takes you away. You will laugh. You will also cry. A lot. At least the spouse and I did.

Now, I can be a snob about shows, I won’t lie. I have to enjoy many elements to really get invested, varying from art style and plot to the music and lighting. If I list my favorites you will notice the trend. So, art style.

From character design to backgrounds, this show is a feast for the eyes. And the lighting! In a way, it reminds me of Death Note with how lighting is used to highlight key moments. No on to the music.

I’m going to put the opening here for you to take in. Not only does it give a hint to the music, but the opening is enough to make anyone who has watched the show start acting up. Seriously check in on us, we’re not okay.
