This is a part of the Koch empire which is responsible for much of the nefariousness in the US, including packing courts, ruining environment, stealing elections, gerrymandering etc.
Plus responsible for many wrongs in the world.

His assignment was just to get the tax regime & regulations softened for the industries that the Koch empire is interested in by first cozying up to Modi, and if that fails by contributing to the aggravation of chaos so that Modi is dislodged.

It is Koch patronage that allows foot soldiers like Dhume to find space in papers like WSJ and thus have a shortcut into the higher circle of Lutyens elites.

Many fibbies and even those that are ostensibly on Modi's side cut him some slack because he may someday pave the way for the Kock dollars for them too. Or they fear retribution from the empire.

Without the Kochs, the Republican party would have collapsed in the late 90s.

A confluence of interest led to the Murdoch media empire working in consort with the Koch empire, which has worked to the Republican party's advantage.

However, that equation is now due for revision.

With Trump likely to launch a media empire of his own (still a hypothesis), the Murdoch empire will be in a tricky position in the US.

Murdoch will face competition for the first time for a huge audience of zombies. Huge boley toh, really really huge and really really dedicated.

From Murdoch stable, WSJ provides the intellectual heft and Fox provided the noisy fluff to the big money interests.

There is now a possibility of war between the Murdoch and the Koch empire.

Trump is an asshole that neither will trust.

So, it could be a Mexican standoff.

Or, hopefully, it is a gang war, in which all the three gangsters end up clobbering each other.

History will thank Trump for this reason too. For being that catalyst that brought about the turmoil that got rid of so much toxic trash.
