i shouldn't be saying this because i am an anarchist who wants to dismantle the state entirely but like. with how much democrates despise leftists you think they'd spend literally any time at all actually working on making us irrelevant rather than continually giving us fuel.
like if they wanted to defang the left you know what democrats would do, is actually work on providing universal healthcare, a green new deal, free higher ed, making sure people in this country don't constantly literally DIE for want of food and housing...
those things would not make me, personally, embrace capitalism, but i think there's a large amount of people right now who VERY clearly see how much our system at every single level exists SOLELY to brutally extract as much as it possibly can from people and then kill us
and democrats are like welllll this is fine because we also are violent capitalists who don't actually care about your lives so even paying lip service to caring would piss off our donors
but even though i'd keep fighting us imperialism till the day i die there is a large swath of americans who do not care about that at all and care solely that their lives are hellish grinding miserable trashfires and would let america kill Whoever so long as they have safety here
the democrats could defang a large amount of (esp. white) leftist energy if they just... invested... time and energy into making sure people's lives here are livable but they DO NOT CARE about that at all so that. doesn't happen?
and every opportunity that comes up they exclaim SO LOUDLY how they would NEVER even CONSIDER such terrible socialicommie measures as making sure poor people don't die in the streets without healthcare who tf do you think they ARE
its just baffling to me how dedicated they are to running away screaming from things that a wild majority of the country desperately wants and also needs to live bc they are just That committed to money.
(also have NO joy in admitting how many purported radicals would BE defanged if they had a small amount of safety and stability here because they are Uninvested in the brutality we visit on noncitizens here, black and indigenous people, anyone abroad)
but i do think a sadly significant number of yt american leftists would happily settle down quietly and enjoy us imperialism if it came with some home benefits
