It’s true O’Brien was an Esper critic but his incentive to push Esper out disappeared after the election. With no second term, Esper move was just about revenge. That’s not O’Brien’s style. People who think Kash follows O’Brien’s lead don’t understand the internal dynamics.
O’Brien is not trying to take over the Pentagon. It’s too late to do anything & everybody understands that. Senior official to me: “What people are missing Is this isn’t about policy at all. It’s a revenge fantasy by McEntee and the MAGA guys. It has literally no larger purpose.”
