Yesterday at 11am the San Diego temple called to tell me if I wanted my at-home-MTC son to receive his endowments before he left on his mission, he had to be there at 8pm. Here are my random thoughts after taking my eldest son through the temple for his endowments during COVID:
#1 ‘twas unbelievable to see my friends/fam drop everything-turn their lives upside down to get inside the temple. Having friends/fam who prioritize the gospel in this way during the last days is critical to my salvation. I draw so much strength from the strength of others.
#2 The temple president told us they have a goal to get every person who had an appointment through the end of the year into the next three days. They would have to shorten each session significantly and run back to back around the clock before they shut down on Friday. 1/3
They were worried people wouldn’t be able to change their schedules last minute- yet not a single person said they couldn’t make it- even the ones that were assigned 2:30am sessions 2/3
The fact that these, well, ‘elderly’ temple workers are able to put this altogether and go without sleep to perform these ordinances with no rest shows an impressive amount of charity. 3/3
#3 I did not react to the Spirit in the temple the way I figured. Seeing my son go through the temple was emotional-but the fruits of the Spirit in this trip was energy, power and victory: It is true! It is powerful! & it will win in the end. Now what am I gonna do about it? 1/2
My life will change immediately, because I want it to. I want this energy to continue. The Lord did his part last night. Now it’s my turn. It’s up to me-Repentance is divine. 2/2
#4 Three generations of my family were physically represented in the temple last night. I believe a fourth generation was also present, possibly more. Through experiences too sacred to share, I know our ancestors hearts are most definitely turned toward us.
#5 Having a fellow #DezNat show up randomly was uniquely pleasant. Tammie shows up and my family wonders who she is and I have to admit I technically just met her, myself. 1/2
An unexpected consequence of this is that I had to explain #DezNat to my friends and family and now I assume they’re looking me up on twitter at this very moment. 2/2
#6 Tammie tweeted her thoughts below: #3 is my favorite. Tammie shared one of the most sacred experiences in my family: a session organized just for us. The entire temple staff were focused on my son and no one else. Surreal. https://twitter.com/trusthimforever/status/1326930742765481984
#7 Funny side note about having to explain #DezNat to my fam- my son admitted he had been spying on me on Twitter for the past year. Yikes. I guess you never truly are anonymous.
#8- speaking of my son, He takes forever to get dressed! (I told you these tweets are just random thoughts as I assess what just happened last night). It is his weird quirk. When we would take him school shopping, he would take forever to try on clothes 1/2
I mean what is he doing in there? The ENTIRE temple staff is waiting for him to get dressed and we’re all just staring at each other and all I can do is shrug. 2/2
#9 Yesterday was Veteran’s Day and I got to meet a lonely veteran at BJs in La Jolla before the session. He was dressed to the Ts, eating a pizza by himself. I said three words to him and he told me his life story. I was glad to be able to thank a vet. (I snuck a pic)
#10 La Jolla is paradise (the technical location of the San Diego temple). I have a 10yr plan to retire and get out of Commiefornia, but La Jolla is so perfect, I may have to stay in this cursed state the rest of my life. The Lord knew what he was doing when he picked this spot.
#11 A thought I had in the temple last night:What if the temple being closed is a direct punishment to us saints for not attending as much as we could? God-“U can’t attend the temple cuz you think your daughter’s dance recital is more important? Well, how ‘bout I take away BOTH”
