This is an important thread about white privilege, police and more.
When I tried to report harassment the Met were worse than useless and I'm white and pretty demanding. https://twitter.com/AnaMardoll/status/1326957479515873280

It also reminds me of a great thread which I can't find now, about how a lot of public perception of cops comes from TV and movies. And in those media, cops are helpful, informed and *crucially* often above the law.
They break the rules *all the time* to get things done.
They break the rules *all the time* to get things done.
Cops, detectives etc. who are portrayed as the 'good guys' in the plot are forever shown 'throwing the rule book out of the window' and doing 'badass' things like breaking and entering, lying to their police captains, falsifying evidence, roughing up witnesses etc.
