Are you learning #UX #Design but are unsure of what tools to use?

Here's a thread of the best industry-standard tools that every UX designer needs to know about:

A THREAD
@sketch a vector-based design tool.

Designing in vector means that your lines, rectangles and circles are all mathematically calculated allowing you to scale up or down to an infinite size with no pixelation!
There are other tools similar to @Sketch but, for me, it is the go-to for its lightweight consumption of RAM and the plethora of available plugins that help you be more productive.

Like spell-checking, asset versioning, and artboard management very important for productivity.
@marvelapp a free prototyping tool you can use anywhere.

Being able to turn your designs into a clickable prototype is powerful!

Allowing you to test ideas and move through what’s not working to iterate quickly. I use @marvelapp for this.
It's free and you can use it anywhere, works on both mobile and the web.

So you can quickly draw on a piece of paper, capture it with your phone using the Marvel app and start adding hotspots to turn them into interactive designs right then and there 🤯
@googleanalytics a free analytics platform for tracking users.

If you’re a UX designer you need to be able to record user behaviour of your designs. Without that insight, how can you improve your designs to better serve the user?

That’s where Google Analytics comes into play.
Google Analytics is one of the industry-leading tools for analysing user behaviour and it’s a surprise to say a tool this powerful is free to use.

Getting the basics of it set up is enough for most situations, the breadth of data it allows you to collect is crazy.
Google Forms — Survey tool

When you need insight into a problem users face its best to ask those users that suffer from the problem directly. Google Forms is a free survey tool that allows you to gather information from your users and analyse it.

This can be done by using their drag and drop form builder to create surveys to capture insight into the problem your users face.

The Google Forms tool is pretty powerful as well allowing you to choose from a bunch of question options, from multiple choice to drop-downs.
Add images and YouTube videos, or get fancy with page branding and question skip logic.

The question skip logic is what you would normally have to pay for with most survey tools but with Google Forms it is free and that’s why it’s I use it all the time at work.
The best thing about these tools is that most of them are free to use. Very important if you’re a UX designer that’s just starting out. Familiarise yourself with these industry-standard tools, they will definitely up your game as a UX designer.
