Some rare China missile program footage I've been meaning to post for weeks:
DF-4 elevate to launch silo. A rare type of basing in which the entire missile is lifted from the silo before launch. They never used these in any notable number.
Vanes in the DF-4's second stage. The second stage engine was not gimballed.
All first stage engines on the DF-5's first stage were gimballed. Here is some rare test footage of them testing them:
The DF-5's second stage uses a single fixed primary engine with four gimballed secondary engines for maneuvering.
Attaching that engine:
The DF-5 gyroscope being tested. This thing was infamously heavy - so heavy it had to be lowered into the missile via a crane.
The JSSW series of test satellites:
DF-5 test debris imagery.
Not sure what this is but I have some guesses.
DF-3 launch. This is to my recollection the only DF-3 flight footage I have in my archive.
Just gonna keep this thread going I guess. DF-5 liftoff:
Picture of the DF-5 engine on during a test.
Extremely brief CZ-2 liftoff.
Apparently they have an FB-1 (DF-5) on display at the space launch center.
