For those who want to keep U.S. troops in Afghanistan, I’m curious: until when? I keep hearing about “responsible withdrawals;” that the time isn’t right, etc. Please specifically define what the “right time” is. Because as far as I can tell, it’s based on unrealistic conditions.
Some say U.S. troops should stay until the Taliban are serious about the peace process? Define “serious.”

Others argue a withdrawal should be tied to an intra-Afghan peace deal. But what gives you confidence that a U.S. presence will make a difference in these talks?
More importantly, why are you so sure the intra-Afghan talks will reach a deal? The diplomatic process isn’t looking too hot right now.

People need to stop beating around the bush. Phrases like “responsible withdrawal,” “conditions-based withdrawal” and...
“precipitous withdrawal” are used to stop a withdrawal, period. And for whatever reason, the basic question isn’t asked: what alternative do you propose that is actually viable?

The American people want out. The U.S. mil isn’t responsible for Afghanistan’s political problems.
Biden could be the third consecutive U.S. President to inherit the war in Afghanistan. Trump could do his successor a favor by preventing that from happening.
