California has until early December to complete the Canvass of the election results. Besides counting the ballots, what does that mean? THREAD 1/
To begin, we examine each Ballot Statement that was returned from the in person voting precincts on Election Night and reconcile that with the ballots and materials returned for processing. 2/
After that, we examine all of the Audit Logs from the election deputies and/or volunteers who scanned the batches of ballots. 3/
Then we compare the Audit Logs and Ballot Statements to the Results Reports generated from the Vote Tabulation system. 4/
We then create a Ballot Manifest, which is a detailed record of each ballot counted. Although anonymous as to voter, each ballot is imprinted with the date, time, batch & tabulator information as a safeguard to prevent ballots from being tampered with. 5/
Once every ballot is tabulated, we will do a post election audit to ensure that ballots were tabulated correctly. This year, Inyo County will be conducting a Risk Limiting Audit, in addition to the 1% manual hand tally. END/
