According to The British Army records, Percy Toplis (of whom historians are fascinated as official records of Etaples Mutiny were destroyed) state that he returned before his regiment reached India, from either Solonika, Greece or Egypt
Due to malaria
No known documented proof his being at mutiny.

But authors of "The
Monocled Mutineer" spoke to several who were there saying he was there, and was a leader of the mutiny

The fact he did not go to India is not proof he was at Etaples, but means it is possible
This is really pedantic from me, and I am no professional historian

But everyone interested in history should, I think, support the search for the truth of events

Again. I think, we cannot deal with the present and plan for the future, unless we know and understand the past
