The #Ramayana is one of the two great epics of Hinduism. It is not just a story of good and evil. There are very important teachings that we need to learn from the great epic. It describes that materialistic and sensual pleasures are a natural part of human life.

But at the same time, Dharma must not be compromised in any way in order to attain these other pleasures. It puts great emphasis on the ideal of Dharma or righteousness; an ideal that each person must practice in their lives.

It teaches us the importance of morality and justice. The Ramayana also depicts the duties of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, son, husband, brother, friend and the king. The character of #LordRama is a perfect example of these qualities.

Rishi Vasishta, guru of Raghu dynasty named him Rama. He explained that the name 'Rama' is made up of two beeja aksharas: Agni beeja(Ra) and Amrutha beeja(Ma). Agni beeja energises the soul, mind and body. Amrutha beeja reinvigorates the prana shakti(life force) in all the body.

The Ramayana gives great insight to the period or Yuga that Lord Rama lived in. People’s righteousness, moral and ethical standards were of a very high order then. It gives a beautiful description of #RamRajya, where peace, prosperity and tranquility reigned.

Lord Rama's rule, his life and values are still cherished and extolled.
During times of mental turmoil, one can find peace and enlightenment from reading the Ramayana. It's a great source of guidance.

कहते हैं की राम से बड़ा राम का नाम. Once Sage Vishwamithra ordered Lord Rama to kill Yayati, who was an ally of Rama. He agreed to it. When Yayati came to know about it, he went to Hanuman seeking his help. Hanuman promised him that he would save him.

But Hanumam did not know that it was Lord Rama who was coming to kill Yayati. Because of his promise, he agreed to fight with Lord Rama. However, he did not use any weapon in his battle against Lord Rama, and instead stood chanting Rama's name in the battle field.

The arrows from Rama's bow didn't have any effect on Hanuman. Lord Rama gave up. Seeing the courage of Hanuman, Vishwamithra relieved Rama of his word and gave Hanuman the name "Veer Hanuman".
So chant the name of Rama. He will bless you.

The beautiful story of Squirrel which tells us that no one was big or small for #LordRama :
While making the bridge over the sea to connect to Lanka for fighting the war with Ravana, all the monkeys and bear warriors started picking and placing the boulders into the sea.

A Squirrel was also picking up little pebbles in her mouth and putting it alongside the boulders. A monkey saw and started making fun of her & told her to stay away as she'll die under the boulder. The squirrel was in tears and hurt. Lord Rama saw this and came near the squirrel.

He gently stroked her back with his hand to appreciate her contribution. When he raised his hand, the marks of his fingers came up on her body. And ever since then, the squirrel has carried three white stripes on her back, as a token of Lord Rama's affection.
