This small shift in the way I journal made a radical change in its effectiveness.

- THREAD -
Journaling organizes life and rewrites the subconscious.

Write the plan, execute.

2014 is when I started writing, and man does it feel like a lifetime ago.

Simply put, it saved my life.

Insecurities - Issues - Heartbreak -

Wrote my way through all of them.
Yet this whole time, I never wrote in my own perspective.

I would always tell myself what to do:

“You need to make more money”, “You need more of AB, C and D”.

It’s almost like I was looking at life from a 3rd person perspective.
“Brandon’s supposed to do this and Brandon is supposed to do that”.

The Change: Instead of saying, “You must do this, that, and the other”...

I changed it to I.

“I must do this”; instead of, “YOU must do this”
“I must do more of AB, C and D, I must make more money, I must become this, or that.”

Simply changing the pronoun of the writing has completely changed its effectiveness.

And I’ve been journaling for YEARS.
“I must become the greatest version of myself” - “You need to become the best version of yourself”.

‘I need to do’ invokes a greater change than ‘You need to do’.

It’s the difference between teaching yourself what to do and telling yourself what to do.
