The COVID outbreak is to the point in Tennessee where hospitals are suspending medical care, blocking out-of-state tansfers & relying on national staffing agencies to meet labor demands. We have to stop the spread so our doctors and nurses can treat people who need medical care.
The scary part to this is that if hospitals get overwhelmed, they will have to block transfers from within the state -- which would disproportionately impact rural communities, where there are less health care services and a higher death rate. https://www.nashvillepost.com/business/health-care/article/21144446/with-widespread-outbreaks-hospitals-struggle-to-staff-their-surge-plans
A reminder that the state's emergency medical triage guidance for hospitals was amended earlier this year because the federal government deemed the original plan discriminatory against people with disabilities and certain medical conditions https://www.nashvillepost.com/business/health-care/article/21138738/state-revises-triage-guidance-after-discrimination-complaint
