Dear PhD students,
Sometimes you will feel like *you* are the problem, when it is in fact the environment you are in that is. Sometimes you will receive harsh feedback that makes you doubt yourself; stay strong and push back.
A few thoughts below on what this all means. #phdchat
The whole point of doing a PhD is to learn new skills and push boundaries. You *should* be creating new knowledge; you *should* make some people feel uncomfortable with what they know.
The whole YOU is the person doing the PhD.

Use the tools at your disposal to push boundaries:
- build a diverse interdisciplinary committee if you need to;
- bring high-quality, divergent work to your supervisors;
- reach out to mentors for support;
- when you feel hurt, say something: show surprise at the response.
Doing a PhD means learning a research tradition; it means learning the borders of a field. Learn these tenets so that you can then stretch the realm of the possible.

YOU'VE GOT THIS. ๐Ÿฆพ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช
