When parents/guardians get a phone &/or text message noting that there's been a case of COVID in their school, this is an informational message. Close-contacts will usually be called 1st by a staff member, not a recording. They will be given the important information they need.
If you receive a recorded call that notes "close-contacts will be telephoned," chances are high, that your child is not a close-contact. We are trying to keep our families informed with these recorded calls that usually precede letters that go home on the next day.
If you do get any school division recorded message, but do not have children in school, you may be a relative, or friend or neighbour & your number has been given as an emergency contact. You may not even know that you are an emergency contact. This happens a lot.
Regina Public Schools employees are working hard to, not only create a learning and working environment that is as safe as possible for students and staff, but we are also striving to keep our families well-informed and prepared; even on weekends and holidays.
Stay safe!
