Y'all I am beginning to wonder how long Twitch will remain at the top as they fumble so hard. "Just mute the game" isn't/shouldn't be an acceptable response. I understand if it's licensed music in games, but that meme about menu music getting you DMCA'd shouldn't be a reality. https://twitter.com/TwitchSupport/status/1326638989974106112
From a business perspective it's becoming super risky to try and be a full time streamer on Twitch when you don't know what might get you some serious legal issues. Thus forcing you to get a lawyer and/or pay for expensive licences which adds up more into the costs of business.
Also your typical full time streamer makes anywhere from 20-40k a year, basically make as much money as typical minimum wage jobs. They can not afford expensive council or license fees which were made with large corporations in mind, not someone playing games on the internet.
Also yes, our system is broken for copyrights. However the multi billion dollar company that is Amazon could have secured this, but because they don't seem to care they are risking their investment in Twitch long term. So yeah I put the blame for this squarely on Twitch.
