We've spent 4 days debating if Defund the Police was a bad political slogan and not talking about the fact that 58% of white voters gave a thumbs up to fascism in this election. There is literally nothing Democrats can do that will get racist white people to vote for them.

Progressives make the mistake of thinking white voters will chose Dems because legal weed and living wages are popular. Moderates make the mistake of thinking white voters are more persuadable in their politics than they really are.

We had a Black president that expanded our economy and gave folks access to healthcare who was followed by an orange white nationalist who lied about coronavirus and let 245k Americans die and he still got 65 million white people to vote for him.

We live in a multi-racial society where one of our 2 major parties in 90% white. That's the conundrum. Dems need as many voters from all groups to win. Because white voters are such a large group we end up fighting for the margins often to the detriment of other groups.

This has created the tension you see playing out in the Dem party. What does it say about our country that Dems can only get 41-43% of white voters even after 4 years of the most racist and corrupt president of the last 100 years?

At the end if the day Defund the Police is a strawman to deflect from the real problem that the majority of white voters are not really invested in democracy. You may not like to hear it but our elections have proven that time and time again.
