I remember several years ago arguing with a CEO that it was a reasonable expectation for everyone on the executive team to have a basic understanding of how our software product worked and how our software development process worked, so that we could work together better. 1/
I was told repeatedly that it was a waste of time and unreasonable, and that executives should tell me “what” and I and my teams could figure out “how”, without any understanding that not allowing us sat in “what” and they not understanding shit would lead to disaster. /2
Spoiler: it led to disaster.
And I’m here to tell you, after doing it correctly for 3 years now, that it’s not only reasonable and not a waste of time, it completely changes how effective everyone is.
