Once lauded as America’s Mayor for his heroic comportment on 9/11, former district attorney and now-personal lawyer to president, Rudy Giuliani has become a figure of scorn and ridicule.

As New York’s Mayor during the 9/11 terror attacks, the likes of Oprah Winfrey hailed him as a hero for his leadership and stoicism on the day. This lead to him receiving a 79 percent approval rating among New York City voters in the weeks after the attack. (2)

It also lead to him being named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2001 and receiving an honorary knighthood from the Queen in 2002. This, alongside his reputation for prosecuting mafia members during his time as a DA, earned him widespread respect. (3)

He later ran for president as a Republican in a largely-forgotten 2008 campaign, ultimately coming 4th in states like New Hampshire before dropping out and endorsing John McCain in January of that year. (4)

However, since his entry into Donald Trump’s orbit as a cybersecurity advisor and personal attorney, Giuliani’s reputation has begun to slide.

Shorty after bing appointed, the former mayor had to consult Apple’s Genius Bar after locking himself out of his iPhone. (5)

In May 2018, Giuliani accidentally made public that Trump had reimbursed his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, for payments the latter had made to silence adult film star Stormy Daniels over her affair with Trump. Trump had previously denied this. (6)

From Spring of 2019 onwards, Giuliani began a concerted effort to persuade the new President of Ukraine to launch investigations into Joe Biden’s family. This ultimately lead to Trump’s infamous ‘favour’ call and his subsequent impeachment. (7)

Giuliani also worked for security firm called ‘Fraud Guarantee' during this time. The organisation’s owners, who were associates of the former DA, have since been indicted for fraud. (8)

Upon the release of Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat sequel in October 2020, it was revealed that, whilst in an apparently private room with Borat’s “underage daughter”, Giuliani had asked for her phone number and address before lying back and reaching into his trousers. (9)

Finally, last week, whilst attempting to hold a press conference at the Four Seasons hotel to discuss allegations of voter fraud, Giuliani accidentally booked Four Seasons Landscaping: a gardening company on an industrial estate and next to a sex shop. (10)

Upon discovering that the race had been called for Joe Biden part-way through, Giuliani asked who had called it.

When told that all of them had, he looked to the sky, spread his arms wide and cried “all the networks!”
