Greg Clarke’s termination as chair/director of @FA is confirmed with the TM01 being filed with @CompaniesHouse

What’s that I hear you say: how will Clarke’s replacement be selected?
The #FA’s process for appointing a new chair is stated in the Football Association Limited’s (the company entity of The FA) Articles of Association (“AoA”), articles 89-93.
The chair is to be ‘nominated in writing 21 days or more before the date of a meeting of Council by the Nominations Committee, endorsed by the Board and appointed by Council’ (AoA, article 89).

‘Council’ is The #FA Council, whose members are stated here: https://www.thefa.com/about-football-association/who-we-are/the-fa-council
‘Nominations Committee’ (“NC”) is ‘the committee established by the Board from time to time’ (AoA, articles 2(xx), 109).

Unsure on NC members save that Peter McCormick (interim chair) and Stacey Cartwright (independent non-executive director) are members: https://www.thefa.com/about-football-association/who-we-are/structure
At time of appointment chair cannot be a member of Council, be an employee, director, or have a material business relationship with a ‘Competition’ (e.g. #PL, #EFL), the #FA*, other football assoc., a football club, or (unless approved by Board) #FIFA or #UEFA (AOA, article 89).
* Save if the individual is already the chair and is being reappointed. On that note: the term of office of chair is for three years, and a they can serve no more than three terms (AoA, article 90).
Following resignation of chair (AoA, article 115(i)) - as with Clarke - the position shall be filled ‘as soon as practicable at an extraordinary meeting of Council’ and in accordance with AoA, articles 89-90 (AoA, article 93).
So, if you’re interested in being chair of @FA: get on the NC’s radar, make sure you satisfy the criteria in AoA, article 89, get nominated, hope the Board endorses that nomination and then that the Council appoints!
