I wrote to @SteveReedMP about all the madness Croydon council seemed to be doing a couple of years ago and got the most generic nonsense response. I also saw him at a street festival and quizzed him on several issues 1/ #CroydonInCrisis
Like why is the council is building a shitload of houses no one in could afford, like 600k luxury units next to an actual dump? Why had waste collection been such a fiasco, why were parking charges being raised (but the fee being waved for councillors)./2
He gave me the most nonsense spiel about how amazing our Council was and how all of this was the Tories fault. I'm sure they didn't help but I knew two minutes in he was bullshitting me. Now look. Croydon is bankrupt. /3
the council gutted the high street in a desperate attempt to woo Hammerson, kicking out long time traders for a fancy new Westfield when we already had two shopping centres. The council has been selling out the people of Croydon for years and all of our MPs are complicit. /4
Read up on all of this and you will see a very obvious and clearly signposted scandal that deserves national attention. The gall of the councils fudgery is insane and the fact none of Croydon's MPs did a thing about it is what pisses me off the most #CroydonInCrisis /5
