Many scholars who never bothered to apply class and material analysis to the 2018 revolution have been dismissive towards it for the past 2 years calling it populism lacking in political thought. When in reality the politics were right there they were just too privileged to see.
The reason there is no popular support for the current events is the youth who were the backbone of the 2018 protests. The youth understands what awaits them if the corrupt oligarchs come to power. And they stand by the Revolution not by Pashinyan or My Step.
If the austerity and anti democracy architects come to power there will be a huge brain drain from Armenia. And if Armenia loses it’s professionals a dark path awaits us. And the working class will be devastated by the financial burden in upcoming years.
What happened is painful and traumatic but let’s not make things even worse by bringing in ppl who are the reason we are in this mess in the first place. Misplaced anger is something we’ll have to deal post-war. Let’s stay level headed.
