Hello, my name is James. I'm a fmr Elections Admin of a large urban county, am registered @GOP, and actively work with hundreds of jurisdictions across the US. For many reasons, the past week has been difficult. If you seek truth about US elections, please keep reading.
As with most elections, I have been flooded with questions about voter fraud, vote-by-mail, voting machines, registration deadlines, etc. It is my goal for this thread to provide additional insight that you may not hear or see via traditional media outlets.
Over the past week, I've had the difficult task of explaining election administration and it's many countless processes to many of my closest friends. At least half the country is confused, inquisitive, and simply pissed off. Did my vote count? Was the "fix" in all along?
I've been jokingly asked for years, "does voter fraud exist"? Here are the facts. Does voter fraud exist? Yes. During my time as Dir. of Elections in Louisville, KY I personally experienced VERY few cases of potentially illegal activity. In approx 5yrs, I saw less than a handful!
Earlier this week, a close friend implied that Election Administrators in numerous swing states knowingly coordinated and allowed "voter fraud". Call me sensitive but I was certainly offended. Why? Let me explain.
Since leaving Election Admin myself, I have had the pleasure of meeting, visiting, consulting, and learning from a countless number of officials across the country. These officials, appointed or elected, are REAL people. They do not work for political parties. They work for you.
This is Jeanie and Lisa. Both administer elections in a GA county, now a swing state. Over the past year, these two have worked day/night to implement a new voting system, recruit & train poll workers, all during #COVID19.
This is Kim, who administers elections for over 200k voters in urban Georgia. Despite a raging pandemic, she voluntarily kept 40+ polling places open on Election Day.
To my right is Jennifer, who administers elections just outside Athens, GA. Also photographed is @GaSecofState. I know both to be passionate, capable, inclusive, and hands-on. Cc: @GabrielSterling
This is the incredible elections team in San Patricio County, TX who took steps this past year to improve polling place accessibility for all voters.
It infuriates me knowing the integrity of these public servants are being called into question. Election Administrators are heroes, not partisan actors. Having been on both sides, I can't stress enough how proud you should be of these individuals.
These officials are parents of small children, grandparents to our next President, months away from a well-earned pension, Sunday School teachers, troop leaders, and go to bed wondering if they'll have enough poll workers on Election Day.
To suggest the Presidential election was "rigged" or a significant number of ineligible ballots snuck in the backdoor is insulting to me personal experience as an administrator and to both my personal and professional experience with America's leading public servants.
Again, does "fraud exist"? It has been my experience that, yes, it does... but in very small, insignificant cases. And of course, these cases should be prosecuted and all ill-intended actors should receive punishment.
As an elections professional who works with hundreds of government admins ( @GOP, @DNC, and non-partisan), my message is this... Election Administrators are good, honest, capable, and willing people. They are the hardest working people I know.
If you believe elections are "rigged", please inquire about becoming a poll worker. The integrity of our voting process depends on your help. You CAN do it. My 66yr old father, a survivor of two strokes, did it. My friend with a Master Degree found time. You can too.
