I forget that people think this trump thing is left vs. right. It's not. It's inner party establishment vs. outer party populist. They are rigging the votes bc he's a threat to establishment, not because he's on "the right"

The GOP is the establishment's controlled opposition. If you remember 2016 he crushed and embarrassed them all to win. If they backstab him they get their old power back

when you realize it's Trump + his loyalists vs. establishment all of the behavior of the media, former presidents, GOP, etc. all make sense.
