I will always welcome serious and legitimate debate about #PuertoRico. But if you start playing the "Puerto Rico purity card" and then mock the diaspora (the same diaspora that can actually move votes for you), you are just part of insular thinking.

For example, I have published several opinion pieces about #PuertoRico and status for years. From people who support statehood and from those who don't. I publish them for @latinorebels because they are well-written opinion pieces that make me think.

I never question one's Puerto Ricanness or mock them. I respect their views and tell them that we must continue to elevate this discussion.

I do find that when an inconvenient truth is being dropped, some would rather mock the messenger. That's amateur hour.
