Thread: 1 in 4 women in #fundraising experience sexual harassment.

2/3 of the perpetrators are donors, virtually all of whom are men.

That is straight-up unacceptable and a major point of contention I have with our sector in particular.

#NDOC2020
It breaks my heart that a sector that is supposed to be creating social good is perpetuating issues like this.
The 2nd Annual National Day of Conversation @nationaldayofc1 on November 26 is so important. We need to raise awareness about this issue, support those experiencing harassment and also insisting on safer workplaces. No one should feel unsafe coming to work.
What are things we really need here?

Men calling out other men. Stop perpetrating and harassing. Stop accepting it as normal. Stop staying silent when you see it. Stop minimizing employee claims. Stop making 'harmless' comments. Stop siding with donors. Stop turning a blind eye.
Start believing. Start calling it out. Start making this an issue of central importance. Be willing to lose a donor to do the right thing.
Thank you deeply to @liz_hallett and Wanda Deschamps for founding this vital movement, and all of the incredible leaders, volunteers, speakers, and sponsors driving this. We can't underestimate the emotional labour it takes to be at the forefront of this.
