WE DON’T WANT TO USE PASSIVE THERAPY TO MOBILIZE SOFT TISSUE.

Why?

Your brain constantly sends and receives signals to and from your sensory systems, which dictates what level of contraction a tissue has.
In other words, there’s a reason your tissue is “tight” (or in other words, contracted).

Usually this is a built in safety feature. More ROM isn’t allowed because your brain knows it isn’t safe. Trust me, the body is smarter than we are.

So if we trick the body out by passively
mobilizing the soft tissue, what happens?

Yes, our mobility increases. Yes, we might be able to throw harder, hit faster, etc. But at what cost?

We’ve just disabled the built in safety feature through passive measures.
Now the tissue is going through unprotected ROM at high levels of force.

Then… injury. But why? Because the body already told us we shouldn’t be in that ROM (talking to us through the tightness), but we refused to listen and tricked it out with a passive treatment.
So please stop tricking out mobility restrictions through passive therapies.

Rant complete.
