Man On The Moon: The End Of Day; An Album Deconstruction.

Today, I will be breaking down the meaning and storyline of Man On The Moon: The End Of Day by Chicago Native, @KidCudi . I Hope you guys enjoy!
1. In My Dreams (Cudder Anthem)

In My Dreams (Cudder Anthem) starts us off on a very soft note, introducing us to this persona of the “Man on the Moon” and the realm of his dreams. He seems very at peace with himself here inside his dream realm, reassuring (1/2)
himself that everything is fine, to then welcome to listener into his realm of happiness and joy. We then hear a voice over from fellow Chicago Rapper Common, who acts as a sort of “slap of reality” from his poem, to wake Cudi up from these dreams of a perfect world. (2/2)
2. Soundtrack 2 My Life

After being slapped in the face by reality and awaken from his perfect dreams, Cudi comes to the sad realization that he cannot have that perfect world so he spirals into his negative thoughts, thinking about how his father died, his ongoing (1/3)
depression he has, his paranoia, and his drug use. This track acts as Cudi essentially “venting” his problems about his life and how he has issues that nobody can see, and uses this track as a whole “tone-setter” for the whole album. (2/2)
3. Simple As...

We are now led into the Man on the Moon’s thoughts and makes it simple, just like the title implies talking about his love for weed, women, and how he tries to be cool. (1/2)
He also tells us on how he tries to be positive and how he is tormented. To align with the track title, he makes these topics simple and doesn’t develop too deep into them. (2/2)
4. Solo Dolo (nightmare)

Moving on with the album to the next track, here Cudi talks about how lonely he is and how he uses the dreams (like those in “In My Dreams”) to escape these lonely thoughts and create this false reality to where everything is good, when it's not.
5. Heart of a Lion (Kid Cudi Theme Music)

After coming down from these lonely thoughts and dreams and fighting the thoughts, he now finds passion within himself to stay strong and keep fighting. Over this track, he laments his pain and finds passion within it to stay (1/2)
strong and never give up no matter what happens. We get a brief glimpse of what happiness feels to Man on the Moon, and how he uses his pain as a fuel source to stay strong and become better. (2/2)
6. My World

The man on the moon now paints for us a picture of his come up and his story. He mentions that he grew up with Self-Esteem issues and trying to fit in and mask himself with others around him. (1/2)
He then goes onto how he tried to make moves to become a successful person including the struggles he took when he was trying to find a job back when he was younger. (2/2)
7. Day n Nite (nightmare)

Cudi reaches a rough patch. He finds himself struggling again with feelings of loneliness after starting to find success. So, he turns to drugs to try to cope with these feelings despite all that he has done and attempting to find peace within himself.
8. Sky Might Fall

The lonely stoner is now forced to deal with the nightmares and fears he still has, despite taking drugs. He asks himself if these bad thoughts and nightmares will ever end and feels like he must continue to take as much drugs as (1/2)
he can until he doesn’t feel the pain anymore. Though, he reassures himself that everything will be fine at the end of the day, stating the pain he feels is only temporary and won’t last forever. At the end, he tries to find the power to put the drugs down and does. (2/2)
9. Enter Galactic (Love Connection Part I)

Continuing the journey of finding peace within himself, Cudi manages to find himself a girl to be with and expresses his love for her by taking shrooms with her. Yet, the girl can also be a double meaning of both the girl and his (1/3)
drug use of “Shrooms,” stating that he “used to feel at peace until he found you” which is a reference to earlier in the journey, where he was starting to be at peace with himself, until he found drugs and started to take them as stated in “Day n’ Nite.” (2/3)
The title of the Track, “Love Connection,” is a symbolism of how Cudi has found himself in connection with drugs again, and falls in love with them yet again. (3/3)
10. Alive (Nightmare)

Cudi now finds himself being troubled with his drug abuse yet again, stating that he “feels strange in the night” and “I'm not myself, I feel thrown into a fight” to express how much the drug use is taking a toll on him and he isn’t himself (1/2)
when the nighttime comes. He notes that he “is a beast” and hopes that a girl can come along to solve his problems, basically relying upon the validation of a girl after feeling troubled with his drug use. He also hints that deep down; he just wants to be loved. (2/2)
11. Cudi Zone

With a more upbeat tune and fast pace, Cudi expresses the many emotions he is feeling and thoughts he has about life “in his zone”. He sings in the hook “I'm feeling alright” hinting that he is truly starting to find himself as a person and individual now.
12. Make Her Say

Now, we start to experience more sexual thoughts of Cudi, explaining that same ideas as we found at the end of “Alive” of how he wanted a girl to make him happy and love him for who he is. (1/2)
He describes his want for her, wanting to be with her more than anything in this world. Fellow Chicago Rappers Kanye West and Common come to express their perspectives on girls and the lust they have for them. (2/2)
13. Pursuit of Happiness (nightmare)

Cudi now finds himself at a low point. He feels super down, taking drugs and such, yet he is still going to do what he wants no matter who tells him what. He just wants people to know that if he does die, he lived (1/2)
a good life and lived it to the fullest. He reminds himself too that he is still on the pursuit of happiness, and will do anything to reach that source of happiness as he knows he will be fine once he reaches it. (2/2)
14. Hyyerr

A collaboration track between Cudi and Chip Tha Ripper, they both express the pain and anguish they have felt (yet again) and how they use marijuana as a way to escape their problems temporarily. Pretty Simplistic.
15. Up Up & Away

On the last track to conclude the album, the first verse talks about how Cudi has now found that love for himself and that he finally reached that peace he wanted as mentioned in the beginning of the whole journey. (1/2)
He realizes that people will hate him, but he’s going to do what he wants at the end of the day. To conclude the album however, we come to realize that now he has found happiness, a new challenge awaits. The challenge of fighting himself. (2/2)
Conclusion: Thanks for Reading! I Hope you guys enjoyed! Likes and RT's appreciated 🙏💙
