*sigh* Okay. 🙄

Casting in VO isn't about what makes YOU feel good. It's about who's best for the job.

What some people never think of is the other side of diversity casting and what pigeonholing POC actors into POC roles does to THEM.

Not just immediately, but over time.
A huge driver of diversity casting is warm and fuzzy optics at the literal expense of a POC performers upwards momentum.

Because "Internet People will be mean to us if we don't have the brown people play the brown characters" is a flimsy excuse to hobble someone's career.
Same time, no one is EVER concerned about how this characters are designed or written. They just want POC to play them so that if they're a bad or narrow interpretation, they give it a pass under the rules of "A POC is playing the character and if they're cool with it so am I".
But it's not cool. It NEVER WAS. But not much can be done about it when it's specifically ADR.

But the walls on diversity casting are FINALLY starting to break down. That's going to mean some different things over time.

Its clawing closer to a proper meritocracy.
More POC are being seen and cast than EVER.

So no pearl clutching at casting. Its animation, anyone can play everyone. Thats the beauty of it, or at least that's SUPPOSED to be the beauty of it. And POC are FINALLY getting to experience that beauty in earnest for the first time.
