i never have to be afraid of sticking up for what's right politically because i've always done so, that means my fans know what they're in for, and it means people who don't like what i'm about don't stick around

and my community has rewarded me for this

you don't have to make your community safe for "both sides" if you're clearly uncomfortable with one of them. many creators of various stripes don't, and it's works fine, but if you've hedged your whole career and then stop, yeah, you're gonna have a period of painful adjustment

thing is, if you've been on the zero politics train for years, you've already been bleeding people from your community

lots of marginalized queer/bipoc won't stick around communities that say people who hate them are welcome so long as they don't say it out loud
