A THREAD: today I was asked ‘what do you get out of coaching?’
Well; my coaching journey began free courtesy of @maternityCPD - my project focussed on confidence and authenticity as a leader following my struggle with a traumatic birth and PND.

I’d always been really flippant about my strengths and weaknesses as a leader - not wanting to go too deep for fear of what I’d find.
@Katiefriedman8 brought me the courage to dig deep and be curious about my true motivators. It was painful at first - but exhilarating!

Prior to my baby I was so engrossed in my perception of success at work - which I began to unpick as my people pleaser motivator, frantically trying to read the minds of others.
Now I measure my success in all aspects of my life in ways that make me feel successful all the time!

It still stings when my work is criticised - but now the hurt is further removed from my core, and I can be curious and detached in my questioning: why does this sting? What does it link to? How do I want to react? What impact might that choice have?
Far from avoiding digging deeper, I love it!
I love unravelling a thought or feeling and following it back, patiently unknotting other muddles I come across, until I can see the links and connections, spanning back in clear lines

It wasn’t just not being able to ask for what I needed: I didn’t even know!
Now I can notice and identify my needs, and importantly, boldly articulate them to others.

I feel like a broader, more authentic me.
I feel both lighter and deeper at the same time - wholly built around core values that I’m proud of.

I love writing about how I’ve undertaken this journey - and hearing how others are doing this too.
I can’t wait to share these uplifting, inspiring stories in my upcoming @CrownHousePub book on leading after a setback.
Thank goodness for the power of coaching.
