In the media we are frequently showed one archetype when it comes to heroines. These women exhibit masculine-like qualities and most times brute strength & force unparalleled to that of any man.

On the other spectrum when the female protagonist exhibits traditionally female traits these stories are demeaned and ridiculous.
A perfect example of this would be Cinderella and Sansa Stark. Both of these characters have suffered greatly at the hands of others...

And despite it all, retained who they were, gained strength in character, and overcame their adversaries without copying a “boyish” demeanor.
Sadly instead of being recognized for being phenomenal female character, they are belittled and crucified for being “weak”.

In their eyes the absence of masculinity or boyish behavior in a woman is weak. It baffles me how many individuals believe that the person who can lift weights is automatically stronger or BETTER.
This drive to oversimplify women who don’t fit today’s ideal narrative of strength reflects a hidden disdain for femininity.
Many feminists still harbor internalized misogyny that hinders them from seeing how damaging it is to push this narrative.

This is all boils down to how 3rd-wave feminism in some ways has failed women.
When you still ascribe to the logic that the metric of value lies in qualities, activities & traits of men. You will always subconsciously downplay and undermine the female equivalents.

Until society and WOMEN as a collective are willing to embrace female essence and all that comes with it... we will always be stuck in this cycle of misery that consists of women trying to be mini-men.
