Wntd 2share my experience when #kindness was so badly needed 2day. After doing amazing in a resus SIM to prove myself despite facemasks & not being able to lipread, a consultant asked to "have a chat" w/me. Said there's concerns by ED team that I seem 2be on my own &not 1/4
Getting involved in team banter &chats. Tht I don't make any effort to get involved socially@work. This broke my heart. Had2 fight back tears as I told her actually I can't hear enough to get involved in the banter, that I miss it&feel quite lonely at work these days due to 2/4
Facemasks. Grateful tht I'm allowed back2 Paeds A&E doing what I love. But everyday I end it shattered coz such hard work trying2hear. Was heartbroken that the team chose2think worst of me instead of jst asking. So a message to you all. Don't assume the quiet person is being rude
Perhaps they are wishing so much that they cld join in but doesn't know how to. Be kind. Learn some signs. Find a way. My solution ... I'm taking Cards Against Humanity to work with me tmrw if they want banter! At least I can read! 🙄 #BeKind #needahug #dontassume #iwantclearmask
